Students' visit to small business Agroposta

Twelve students from Faculty of organization and informatics (FOI) on March 12th 2015 visited Croatian small business Agroposta. The students were engaged into Market Basket - Virtual Student Collaboration Model project by teaching assistants Irena Kedmenec and Kristina Detelj, with the help from Izabela Oletić and Danka Patafta from FOI's International Relations Office. This way the Croatian students have an opportunity to collaborate virtually with students from Netherlands, Denmark and Poland and to solve business problems from practice.

Agroposta is a small family business that produces cordials (syrups for mixing with water) in some traditional and some new and exotic flavours (elderflower, raspberry, lemon, sage, lavender). The founder of Agroposta, mr. Pavle Švaić, told his story and patiently responded to numerous students' questions. We visited his production facility and heard about the start, the production process and marketing of the product from the entrepreneur himself.

The gathered information was reported to Danish and Dutch students as the basis for their market research. After their field work, Croatian students would receive their market research reports and use them as input for creating a business plan for entrepreneurs' business expansion on new (Danish and possibly Turkish) and existing (Dutch) markets. Mr. Švaić also provided certain amount of samples that were sent to Dutch and Danish students to acquaint them better with the products.
